AEC Newsletter August 2020

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

There are signs that the COVID-19 crisis tends to widen the gap between rich and poor, old and young, and between communities with different ethnic backgrounds. The ongoing crisis seems to be weakening inclusiveness and even respect for democratic values. These tendencies should make us all worried. In the end, this means also a threat to the artistic and academic freedom we depend on in Higher Music Education.
The ongoing crisis makes AEC's main project, Strengthening Music in Society, even more relevant. Together, we will continue our work, not only for recognition of the significance of Higher Music Education, but also for public investment in arts and culture as a key driver in the development of a more cohesive Europe based on democratic values.
