Dear colleagues and friends,
We warmly welcome you to the first AEC newsletter of 2019, where you will hopefully find plenty of inspiring and interesting information. The SMS project which continues to be at the centre of our attention, is well on track. We are happy to announce that AEC is also involved as a partner in a number of new projects, which are both Creative Europe and Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership projects. The fact that these two funding programs are by far the most popular among our members, illustrates that these are particularly well suited to the needs and the sometimes very special preconditions under which Higher Music Education Institutions work.
Advocacy news in this newsletter focusses on AEC's rather successful efforts to improve the relevant framework conditions during the EU Commission's hearings on the new MFF (Multi Financial Framework) 2021-2027.
We would also like to draw your attention to events hosted by two of our partner organisations (Classical:NEXT and IMZ International Music + Media Centre) which are operating on a supranational level in the Art, Music or Higher Education sector, just as AEC. Especially in these, politically not always easy times, it is increasingly important to join forces wherever shared interests can be identified.
The AEC Office staff members are grateful and proud to work for an association that has a strong sense of responsibility and dedication. We would like to thank the Council and ExCom members, our President Eirik Birkeland and last but not least the AEC working groups members for their committed contribution to AEC.
You are welcome to contact the AEC office with any questions or suggestions. We'd love to hear from you.
Your AEC team in Brussels
