Introduction to LUCA School of Arts

LUCA School of Arts is a multidisciplinary teaching and research environment where creative talent can develop and grow artistically, performatively and technically. In four cities (Brussels, Genk, Ghent and Leuven) LUCA combines the educational expertise of five renowned institutes (Sint-Lukas, Narafi, C-mine, Sint-Lucas and Lemmens).

Profile

The candidate:

• is active as a performing musician on national and/or international podia

• has a wide experience as a musician (with attention for tradition and innovation)

• is familiar with the international folk scene

• is familiar with the local Flemish folk tradition

• has extensive experience as an ensemble musician

• is preferably also familiar with playing the chromatic accordion

• lives or works in Belgium or is prepared to live and work in Belgium

• knows how to link his artistry to pedagogical skills, being inspired and paying attention to the student’s self-development

• has a clear vision and plan of approach regarding student recruitment

• is a team player and consequently willing to cooperate with colleagues

• is flexible, engaged and active

• has experience with or is receptive for cross-disciplinary cooperation

• is willing to stimulate research towards students

• preferably has a strong connection to part-time arts education (DKO) and/or art secondary arts education (KSO) in Flanders

• is willing to encourage students to upgrade their digital skills

• can communicate in English and/or Dutch

• Is loyal towards the assignment, mission, vision and educational policy of the school.
