University Assistant

for Acoustics and Audio Engineering (without doctorate)

The University of Music and Performing Arts Graz – the KUG -, with around 2,300 students at its Graz and Oberschützen campuses, is an international university offering a wide range of courses in music and the performing arts. Your tasks areas

• Implementation of tools and applications for computer music and live performance e.g. servicing and development of IEM-Plugins

• Independent teaching of courses and holding exams (from the second year of employment)

• Independent research activities

• Supervision of students

• Participation is essential in research projects, and in teaching and administrative duties in the organizational unit to which you are assigned

• Participation in examinations

• Participation in organizational and administrative duties, as well as evaluation activities

Your profile

• Completion of a diploma or master’s degree in an appropriate professional study area

• Sensitivity in dealing with gender and diversity

• Profound knowledge in audio signal processing and machine learning

• Solid programming skills in C++, Python, Matlab, and R

• Practical experience with hardware and software for real-time applications

• Distinct communication skills and easy compatibility in interdisciplinary research teams

• Ability for independent and rapid prototyping of solution approaches, project experience.

KUG attaches particular importance to risk reduction in relation to the pandemic. Therefore, it is desirable that applicants are vaccinated against COVID-19, at the latest at the commencement of employment.

Contract: position limited to 4 years

The employment contract needs to include the completion of an academic doctoral degree in the field of Sound and Music Computing (SMC).

Level of employment: part-time, employment extent of 75 % of full-employment

Pay: Collective agreement minimum monthly gross salary currently € 2,293.95 (14 x annually); the salary can increase on the basis of the provisions of the collective agreement by crediting of specific prior experience.
