On 20 May 2020, Classical:NEXT will, for the first time, broadcast the 2020 Innovation Award online. Each year, the Innovation Award raises awareness of forward-thinking projects taking place around the world, as nominated by the dedicated Nominating Committee, which for 2020, was made up of 26 music journalists and experts from 25 countries.
Their role is to inform classical music professionals about potential recipients outside of their own national or professional periphery and their work focuses on renewal and trends in classical music. The final decision is made by the global art music community, who vote via C:N NET for their top three projects.
The ceremony will be hosted by Mischa Kreiskott of NDR Kultur and streamed through multiple online channels. Tune in to celebrate the achievements of this year’s recipients and hear directly from the innovators themselves.
