REMA, the European Network for Early Music in collaboration with the AEC, is organizing an Early Music Summit on 20-22 November. The event will take place in hybrid form in BOZAR (Brussels) and Online. On Friday 20 November, the session and concerts will be organized in BOZAR (limited amount of seats available) but you can follow the event online from home as well. The summit will be fully digital the following days (21st and 22nd November).
Under the title Our Future Past: Early Music in Context, the conference will assess and take a critical look at the current state and future of Early Music in respect of performance, education, research, instrument-making, musicology, and concert promotion. As well as keynote speeches, panel debates, Q&A sessions, and parallel forums covering a variety of thematic strands, there will be digital networking possibilities, poster sessions on groundbreaking research topics, live music performances, and Showcase concerts exploring innovative presentations given by young international ensembles in Bozar. The initially planned Early Music Fair will be replaced with a specific online course for instrument makers and editors during the Summit, with opportunities to meet customers and peers. The sessions related to early music education organized in cooperation with the AEC Early Music Task Force will take place online on Saturday 21st November but subscription and payment will allow AEC members to take part in all the event sessions and concerts.
Registration is now open for both online and on-site event (n.b. onsite events taking place on Friday 20th Only). Representatives of AEC member institution pay the "normal rate" (50 euros) as indicated in the webpage of the event. However, additional representatives from the same institution pay 10 euros per person. Students can register and pay individually on the same page or, alternatively, institutions can reserve a number of student slots by writing to projects@rema-eemn.net.
