The NEW common European Online Application System for mobility among higher music education institutions

The AEC has developed a new and unique tool for its member institutions: a common European online applications system for students and teachers exchanges within the ERASMUS and NORDPLUS programmes: EASY.

The system has been developed by the Estonian IT firm Dreamapply, assisted by some IRCs working group members and the AEC Office staff. This tool follows the increasing requests coming from the International Relations Coordinators community for a common online application system for exchanges within higher music education institutions which could substitute the huge amount of paperwork required by exchange programmes as well as  avoid the proliferation of single institution’s online application systems.

The first version of EASY is now fully operational for the exchanges intakes for the academic year 2017-2018 and is available at https://aec.dreamapply.com/. 41 AEC members are currently taking part and contributing to its development.

In this first phase of the project, the system is being fine-tuned according to the demands of the institutions using it. EASY is currently dealing with incoming and outgoing applications for ERASMUS and NORDPLUS students and teachers exchanges. Although pilot institutions are able to send and receive applications also to and from institutions which are not currently joining the system, the ultimate goal of the project is to have all AEC members in the system in the coming years. In fact the system will work better and better as the number of institutions joining the system increases.

COMING UP!

In April the AEC will launch 2 Surveys about EASY: one to the EASY pilot project members and one to AEC members not taking part in the EASY pilot yet. The aim is to continue collecting data, information and opinions among AEC members to improve the system and come up with an improved version of the tool for the next academic year.
Finally, a Call for Institutions for Pilot Year 2 will be launched in the coming weeks in order to collect indications of interests from AEC member institutions willing to join this pilot project in its second year.

As this is the first attempt ever to build a sector-specific common application system, we really count on the collaboration of all AEC members to reach this very ambitious goal for the higher music education sector!
