Next 27-28 April 2017, the Norwegian Academy of Music (NHM), Oslo (Norway) will host the conference 'Entrepreneurship in Music – Between Artistic Autonomy and Economic Reality', organised  by the Centre of Excellence in Music Performance Education (CEMPE-NMH), the Department of Musicology (IMV, UiO) and the Norwegian Business School (BI).

These are some of the questions the conference will address:

  • How does the discourse on entrepreneurship in music relate to general tendencies in society?
  • How should music and art education approach the growing demands of entrepreneurial skills?
  • What are the consequences of the growing emphasis on entrepreneurial skills to the profession of musicians?
The conference is open not only to papers and presentations on entrepreneurship in music and music education, but also to entrepreneurship in other art forms and educations.
 
The conference will include high student participation and live music performances.
