FIRST ROUND

There are two categories: Baroque Singing and Instrumental Ensembles. Both categories aim to identify emerging vocal and instrumental talents to be involved in a concert career and in the artistic programming of «Musica Mirabilis», the international festival «Giovanni Legrenzi» and other related initiatives.

To be admitted to the competition, it will be necessary to pass a selective test consisting of a live video recording (no cuts) containing the full performance of a sacred or secular vocal piece, in Italian or Latin language (for the Baroque singing category), or an Instrumental piece (for the Instrumental Ensembles category). In both cases the pieces must be by a seventeenth-century Italian author, at the candidate’s choice, lasting no more than ten minutes.

For the Baroque Singing category, the accompaniment must be set to harpsichord, organ or other polyphonic instrument (theorbo, archlute or baroque harp).

Candidates and ensembles admitted to the second and final round will enjoy a facilitated treatment regarding hospitality (room and board).
