HarMA+ in Leipzig: training for teachers in the field of music theory
On 18-22 October, the HarMA+ Staff Training Week 2021 took place at Hochschule für Musik und Theater »Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy« Leipzig, Germany. Several teachers engaging with music theory courses (composition, classical writing, musical analysis, history of music), selected within the project partners, gathered for a one-week training programme that included workshops, job shadowing and music theory seminars among many other activities. Participants were encouraged to share pedagogical practices and methodologies, as well as to further develop and implement innovative joint tools according to the intellectual outputs proposed by the project scope.
The HarMA+ Staff Training Week 2021 accomplished the following objectives for participating teachers, ensuring the sustainability of the project by integrating into several music theory courses across Europe a brand new set of teaching practices and methodologies :
- to train teachers to new pedagogical practices and methodologies on specific subjects;
- to train teachers to resources available on the online exchange platform (IO1);
- to foster the interest of exchanging with European peer-colleagues on music theory subjects.
The next project activity will be held in the frame of the AEC Annual Congress and General Assembly 2021. The first HarMA+ dissemination event will take place on Thursday 4 November from 11:30 to 13:30 CET at Royal Conservatoire Antwerp (Belgium), as part of the AEC Pre-Conference workshops, and will be delivered by the project founder Salvatore Gioveni and Edwin Clapuyt, both from the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles (Belgium). More information about this workshop can be found in the session abstract.
HarMA+ is a strategic partnership funded by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ programme and coordinated by Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles. To find out more about the project partners and activities, please do not hesitate to contact us, or visit the HarMA+ project webpage.
