The first collaboration between AEC and the IMZ International Music + Media Centre tackles one of the most crucial topics facing music education today: What kind of mindset and skills beyond musical excellence do classical performers need to thrive in our ever-increasing digital world and how can these be trained by Conservatories? This IMZ Academy establishes the importance of media skills for the next generation of musicians and explores how the music education of the future should adapt its syllabus to prepare students effectively for the opportunities + challenges of the digital realm.
IMZ Academy Director Peter Maniura, Project Director Classical Archive and Orchestras Digital Strategy at BBC Music, leads the two-day workshop and examines the multimedia musical landscapes and its implications for performers + performing arts institutions and furthermore assesses the creative + promotional opportunities of social media. Furthermore, leading experts from Higher Music Education and performing arts + media will share their professional insights + best-practice, including John Kieser, Executive Vice-President and Provost at New World Symphony, and a representative of the Music + Arts University of the City of Vienna.
