March 6th was a very special day for the IN.TUNE – Innovative Universities in Music & Arts in Europe. The impressive number of over 270 students, teachers, researchers, members of staff and management from eight conservatories, music academies and universities across Europe gathered for the IN.TUNE Kick-off meeting to meet with colleagues from partner institutions, and hear more about the initiative and opportunities it will offer over the next 4 years.
The kick-off was comprised of an introductory session Tune In!, presentations and discussions of specific alliance thematic fields and offers within the Follow the tune! Sessions, concluding with the joint Be IN.TUNE wrap-up. During the two-hour online event, the key features of the European Universities initiative, as intensive long-term institutional structural and strategic cooperation in all four missions of higher education institutions – education, research, innovation and service to society, were introduced. Within each of these fields, scope and potential windows for collaboration for the institutions, their students and staff, were presented and discussed. These included creating frameworks for seamless mobilities, exploring opportunities to establish and access joint courses, modules, intensives and programmes with colleagues from other institutions, forming networks of researchers in particular fields of research in music and arts, and strengthening societal engagement of alliance partners.
