24th August – 1st September 2017

The traditional Summer Campus at the Rostock University of Music and Drama offer students and professionals a  series of eight master classes with internationally renowned artists and pedagogues. In addition to the in-depth training each course holds its own concert.

One of the highlights for many participants is the opportunity to practice and give a concert together with a professional orchestra within the Festival Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock is a large symphony orchestra which will be available for the orchestral work. As in previous years, the musical leadership has been given to the experienced conductor Wojciech Rajski.

For the first time, there will also be coaching that looks at mental preparation for a performance, stress prevention and dealing with stage fright, which each participant can attend free of charge.

Physical fitness and health care for professional musicians play an equally important role. Under the motto “Fit in body – fit for your instrument” daily preventative and specialist physiotherapy will be part of the programme.

The target groups of the master courses, the content of which changes from year to year, are music students and young talents who are preparing for an aptitude test at a music college, as well as experienced singers and instrumentalists from around the globe, who want to further their knowledge and skills. All master classes are open to the public, thus enabling those who are interested to gain an insight into everyday musical work as a guest student.
