Publication on Artistic Research “La Ricerca Artistica Musicale. Linguaggi e Metodi “
The book “La Ricerca Artistica Musicale. Linguaggi e Metodi,” by Dr. Giusy Caruso; concert pianist and artist-researcher, chairwoman of the CREATIE RESEARCH GROUP at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp; is now available online on the website Libreria Musicale Italiana.
The book is in the Italian language, translations in French and English will be published in the upcoming years.
The text – the first of its kind in the Italian language – analyses from several points of view, languages, and methods of artistic research in music the relationship between art, science and technology.
Caruso outlines the historical-social and conceptual context in which the development of the autonomous path of artistic research in music has spread. Caruso’s arguments and reconstruction are introduced in the documented Preface by Kevin Voets, head of research at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, who traces the recent history of artistic research after the Bologna Declaration (1999) and in particular how it has been integrated and organised in conservatories in Flanders.
The Postface by Antonio Grande; theorist and analyst, professor at the Conservatoire of Como and director of RATM journal; «Rivista di Analisi e Teoria Musicale», critically resumes once more the differences and complementarities between the scientific and artistic methodologies and practices.
