Join us for the International Conference “Reflect and react – how Artistic Research Empowers Musicians and Performing Artists at Higher Education Institutions”, on 12-13 May, 2023 at the Hochschule for Music and Dance Cologne.
The economic-cultural environment musicians and artists are facing nowadays also challenges the culture of learning and teaching at Higher Art Education Institutions: How to offer a multiplicity of choices without losing deepness and focus? How to support diversity in artistic agency and raise awareness for the impact of the arts on society and politics? How to create learning and teaching atmospheres in which collaboration and responsibility are in focus? How to make students aware of how all this relates to their own artistic practice?
This conference showcases the results of two EU-co-funded strategic partnership projects bringing together twelve institutions active in the field from all across Europe: RAPP Lab and REACt have both explored the impact of Artistic Research methodologies on teachers and students at Higher Music Education Institutes: What influence do they have on artistic practice, research and teaching? How can these methodologies contribute to the design of study programmes and curricula?
Which learning and teaching formats addressing students on master’s, doctorate and even bachelor’s level can be informed by Artistic Research and how? We are happy to welcome whoever is interested in the topic to share their experiences and to engage in discussion with international experts of Artistic Research and with decision-makers in Higher Education Institutes.
Let’s reflect and (re)act!
