The Music/ian is Present is a three-part event which will be held in Novi Sad, Serbia, on 12-17 September 2022 in the framework of the Erasmus+ project Enhancing the digital competencies and entrepreneurship skills of academic musicians in Serbia for culturally more engaged society – DEMUSIS, coordinated by the University of Arts in Belgrade. It focuses on the promotion of more engaged and culturally responsible academic musicians committed to the civil society, addressing the topic from different perspectives: educational, artistic, research and inciting public dialogue.
The Music/ian is Present week in Novi Sad will include three interconnected events:
- Student bootcamp in a form of a five days intensive course (12-16 September) offered by HMEIs from Belgrade, Novi Sad and Kragujevac (Serbia), in collaboration with the Royal Conservatoire The Hague (The Netherlands), in which participants will explore and apply career and entrepreneurial skills in order to create musical interventions in people’s lives;
- Scientific conference which will be held at the University of Novi Sad on 17 September, covering wide range of topics about social activity and current position of academic musicians in both local and global context;
- Public debate on 17 September in Cultural station Egység, done in synergy with Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture 2022, aiming at raising public awareness of the role and visibility of professional musicians in society, particularly social engagement of young academic musicians. The list of speakers includes high officials from Serbian and EU cultural and HE institutions, representatives from state and private business sector, as well as distinguished artists in the field of contemporary and popular music.
The Public debate and conference will be live streamed on the DEMUSIS Erasmus YouTube channel.
