AEC response to the consultation initiated by the European Commission on the possible mission, objectives, added-value and structure of a European Institute of Technology – EIT

The AEC expresses its concern at the apparent narrow focus on
scientific and technological areas in higher education, and the perceived need to develop scientific excellence to reach the Lisbon objectives. The AEC believes, nevertheless that it is also vital to
 focus on subject areas and types of technology that could be important for the EU economy, but do not usually belong to mainstream scientific research, such as technological research relevant for the creative and cultural industries.
