Job offer

We are looking to appoint an exceptional lecturer to engage, connect, and inspire our students in music industry studies with a specialism in music marketing, start-up and sustainable careers for the emerging artist. The role will involve teaching undergraduate popular music students and designing and delivering online content to an international cohort of songwriters as a part of a team delivering a new Masters in Songwriting.

Trinity Laban is a forward-thinking world-class Higher Education conservatoire. At the leading edge of music and dance training, we provide specialist education of the highest quality, which reflects the increasingly collaborative world of artistic practice and supports the lifelong career development of professional artists.

The BA Music Performance and Industry is a three-year undergraduate programme in popular music. As the post holder, you will join a team of highly skilled, forward-thinking professional artists and teachers committed to fresh approaches in learning and teaching. We place a heavy emphasis on creativity as students develop their artistic voice, gaining industry-relevant skills in performance and production.

The teaching delivery will be practical in small classes delivered at levels 4 to 6 starting immediately in January. In addition, Trinity Laban is launching an online Masters in Songwriting from September 2025. The post holder will be expected to design synchronous and asynchronous online classes. The ability to teach and develop digital content for an online audience is essential. This position is a great opportunity for a visionary educator. As a successful candidate, you will have substantial music industry experience and expertise in the evolving music business, marketing, brand development, online media campaigns and self-promotion.

In addition, you will have a strong understanding of how emerging artists develop careers in in a range of genres (from EDM, Hip-hop, Singer-songwriter, Grime, Rock, Punk, Folk, Ambient, Techno etc.) with recognised expertise in at least one specialism. Previous teaching experience and curriculum design in Higher Education is highly desirable though not exclusive. The Faculty of Music is committed to innovation in learning and teaching in both live and digital domains. As the music industry evolves, you will have a crucial role in keeping the programme updated with the latest developments.

Further to the learning teaching duties as a part of the popular music department, there are opportunities to develop as a part of Trinity Laban’s suite of programmes at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. As a part of the Trinity Laban community, we welcome and encourage applicants with active research profiles.
