The professorship in the Music Education B.A. degree program is designated for the subject area of Pop Bass. Building on their individual background, the future incumbent is to represent research, teaching, and transfer in this area, covering the discipline in the existing specialization of “Pop Bass”. With its combination of theoretical and practical training for instrumental and vocal teachers in all stylistic areas, our music department has a particularly demand-oriented training concept. Great emphasis is therefore placed on interdisciplinary and stylistic openness.

These criteria must be met. For the advertised professorship, these criteria are specified as follows in accordance with Sections 25(1) and 25(2) NHG:

- The future incumbent is expected to have a university degree in the area of instrumental teaching with reference to popular music or a comparable discipline with reference to popular music.

- The future incumbent is expected to demonstrate their particular aptitude for artistic work.

- Evidence of additional artistic achievements in the area of pop bass must also be provided.

- Pedagogical-didactic aptitude: Appropriate teaching experience – preferably with students – must be demonstrated. The future incumbent will focus on developing our students, transferring knowledge, and demonstrating enthusiasm for the distinctive features of the subject.

- They must have at least three years’ experience of teaching in a school or equivalent, or experience of empirical research appropriate to the tasks.

Ideally, the incumbent will also have the following qualifications and skills:

- Experience in interdisciplinary/transdisciplinary collaboration

- A cooperative management style towards students and staff

- Gender and diversity competence

- Intercultural experience in an international environment

- Professional practice in music schools, higher education, or the field of music education with reference to the content and responsibilities of the professorship

- The ability to deliver classes in English
