University Assistant for Musicology
The University of Music and Performing Arts Graz – the KUG – with around 2,300 students at its campuses in Graz and Oberschützen, is an international university offering a wide range of courses in music and the performing arts. Your duties
• independent research activities
• independent teaching of courses and holding exams
• developing and writing a dissertation in musicology (PhD) at the Scientific Doctoral School of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Primary Advisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jennifer Ronyak)
• editorial work on the publication series Studien zur Wertungsforschung (with the possibility of other editorial work)
• supervision of students
• Maintenance and circulation desk work in the institute library
• participation is essential in research projects and teaching duties in the organisational unit
• participation in examinations
• participation in organisational, administrative and evaluation duties
Your profile
• completion of a diploma or master’s degree in an appropriate professional study area
• very good knowledge of English; very good knowledge of German desirable. If German is not the first language, proof of knowledge of German at level C1 (Common European Reference Framework for Languages) or, alternatively, proof of comparable knowledge of English must be provided as a prerequisite for admission to the PhD programme.

Experience in the field of Science Communication (“Public Musicology”) is welcome.
Independently of fulfilling the language requirements for admission to the PhD programme, the candidate will need to deliver proof of German language knowledge at the level of B2 or higher at the latest two years after starting work (if this does not already exist at the beginning of employment).
Contract: Position limited to 4 years. The employment contract needs to include the completion of an academic doctoral degree in the field of musicology.
Level of employment: Part-time, employment extent of 75 % of full-employment
Salary: The minimum monthly gross salary for this position is at present 2,684.10 (14 payments annually), based on § 26 of the collective agreement for university employees in the form of a part time contractual position with the extent of employment being 75 %. If need be, and on the basis of the collective agreement instructions, this amount could be increased through the crediting of specific prior experience.
