University Assistant (w/m/d) (PreDoc) in Historical Musicology

Your duties

• independent research activities, in particular in the field of Historical Musicology and Gender Studies

• Submission of a dissertation with a focus on historical musicology and gender studies (in the context of Doctoral Studies at the KUG)

• Independent teaching of courses and holding exams

• Supervision of students

• participation is essential in research projects and teaching duties in the organisational unit

• Participation in examinations

• Participation in organisational, administrative and evaluation duties

• Attendance at national and international conferences, meetings and symposia

• sensitivity in dealing with gender and diversity

Experience in the field of Science Communication (Science Outreach) is welcome.


Your profile

• Completion of a diploma or master’s degree in an appropriate professional study area

• Very good knowledge of European music history

• Interest in working with archive collections and handling manuscript sources from the 19th century

• Openness to the research fields of cultural studies musicological gender studies

• IT skills and interest, possibly basic knowledge of digital tools

• language skills: German and English (very good knowledge), French (good knowledge)

• structured, independent and reliable way of working

• ability to communicate and work in a team

• curiosity and willingness to familiarise yourself with an innovative interdisciplinary subject area

Contract:
Position limited to 4 years. The employment contract needs to include the completion of a doctoral degree in Historical Musicology.

Level of employment: Part-time, employment extent of 75 % of full-employment

Salary: Collective agreement minimum monthly gross salary currently € 2,684.10 (14 x annually); a higher salary may be negotiated.
