General Information
TAMK Music’s musical theatre education is the only university-level musical theater education in the whole country, and our musical theatre students perform in various theatre productions.
Through the Orchestra Academy, we cooperate with the Tampere Conservatoire, the Tampere Filharmonia and the Finnish Defense Forces. The goal of the Orchestra Academy is to promote students’ professional skills in orchestral playing and to improve employment opportunities after graduation. Cooperation with Kamarikuoro Näsi and Tampere Cappella gives excellent perspective for professional choral activities. TAMK Sinfonia, TAMK Puhaltajat, TAMK Modern, TAMK Musical Theatre and TAMK Opera actively produce their own productions, most recently Puccini’s Suor Angelica opera, which was a success. Our musical theater students can be seen on the stages of all the biggest professional theaters in Finland, for example in Tampere, Lahti, Vaasa, Jyväskylä, Seinäjoki, Kuopio and Helsinki. With the help of our teaching trainee program, music pedagogy students can get to know practical teaching work already during their studies.
At TAMK, you get high-level instruction not only on the most common instruments, but also on rarer instruments, e.g. clarinet, oboe, bassoon, French horn, double bass, saxophone, trumpet, tuba, accordion, percussion.
TAMK Music’s students perform throughout the year at several different occasions and events. Our performer bank is intended for the program needs of companies and individuals, and there you can order a performer for parties as well as other occasions.
