General Information
The Institute of Musicology and the Arts offers brings together a multidisciplinary team of researchers.
Currently, the institute has 2 research tracks.
A first track concerns research for the valorization of the Luxembourg musical heritage. Research activities focus on the following aspects:
a. the critical edition of the works of the Luxembourgish composer Laurent Menager,
b. the "Luxemburger Musikerlexikon" and
c. conferences with proceedings on music pedagogy in Luxembourg.
A second track concerns Early Childhood Music Education. Research activities currently focus on:
a. Instrumental music teaching and learning in Early Childhood (iECME)
b. Technology in Early Childhood Music Education (tECME)
The themes of the completed and ongoing doctorates were/are related to the research carried out within the institute, namely music philology (publishing), music pedagogy and, in addition, wind music from sociological and historical points of view.
The Institute has a strong link with the following bachelor programs:
Music Education (BEM), Educational Sciences (BScE), European Cultures (BCE), and the doctoral school.
