The AEC Learning and Teaching Working Group had its first meeting at the Conservatorio Niccolò Paganini in Genova, Italy, in February. The working group is coordinating the Platform for Learning and Teaching in Music Performance Education, which aims to stimulate exploration and development of learning and teaching in music performance education. The platform is a result of the collaboration between AEC and the Centre of Excellence in Music Performance Education (CEMPE) at the Norwegian Academy of Music within the framework of the AEC project ‘Strengthening Music in Society (AEC-SMS), supported by the Creative Europe programme of the European Commission.

A Learning & Teaching online portal will be launched during 2018, and more initiatives from the working group will follow.

For now, the group is delighted to announce the AEC and CEMPE Learning and Teaching Conference, which will take place on 24-26 October 2018 at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo.

The event will launch the AEC Platform for Learning and Teaching and at the same time, look back on the five first years of CEMPE. The conference will call for presentations of projects, practices and research of importance for higher music education focused on topics such as student involvement, collaborative practices, models of instrument tuition, and more. Projects showing new paths and innovative approaches to learning and teaching will be particularly welcome.

The call for proposals will be published shortly. Presenters will be given the opportunity to apply for travel grants. The deadline for submissions is 27 April 2018.
