From 4 to 19 September 2025, the Sofia Opera and Ballet House will be hosting the digital presentation of the XXV International Masterclass of Raina Kabaivanska and the New Bulgarian University.
During the masterclass, the famous Bulgarian opera singer Raina Kabaivanska will work on improving the vocal technique and dramatic interpretation of the participants in pieces chosen by themselves. Moreover, on this occasion, Raina Kabaivanska will select a cast of soloists for the operas Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci for performances in the 2025/2026 season of the Sofia Opera and Ballet.
The most outstanding participants in the Masterclass will have the opportunity to:
- Participate in the final Gala concert of the Masterclass on 19th of September at Sofia Opera and Ballet House, accompanied by its orchestra.
- Be awarded a scholarship for training with Raina Kabaivanska in Italy, provided by Raina Kabaivanska Fund at New Bulgarian University.
- Be awarded a scholarship for training in Bulgaria provided by Raina Kabaivanska Fund at New Bulgarian University.
- Perform in a concert with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra in season 2025/26.

Application requirements and guidelines for the participants
Eligible applicants are singers up to the age of 32 with a completed musical education or who are students at conservatoires, music academies or universities. The application process for the masterclass consists of a pre-selection based on submitted documents and an audition in two rounds.
