The Social Impact of Making Music (SIMM) is excited to announce two major research events in 2025, offering unique opportunities for socially engaged practice-researchers to collaborate and share insights. Applications for both events are open until 15th April 2025.

8-9 September 2025: 11th SIMM-seminar

SIMM is pleased to return to its structural partner, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, for the 11th SIMM-seminar. This intensive 2-day seminar will bring together researchers and practitioners from a broad range of artistic disciplines, including music, theatre, performance, opera, dance, visual arts, curating, storytelling, circus, and design.

Participants will explore methodologies and share experiences related to practice-based research in social and community contexts. This unique forum aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and support the growing field of research in socially engaged arts. The seminar is co-organised by Chair Jonet (Ghent University).
