The first IMA Conference on Mathematics in Music will take place at the Royal College of Music, London on 13-15 July 2022.
The aim of the Conference is to focus on the exploration of the connections between mathematics and music, in particular current developments of music theory, music performance, music perception and music technology based on mathematical applications, including subjects such as category theory, topology, differential geometry or acoustic theory as well as artificial intelligence, deep learning, language processing and coding.
The conference is addressed to musicologists or computational musicologists, performers and composers using maths in their workplace, as well as to mathematical researchers working at the frontier between mathematics or computation with music theory, musicology, music performance, sound engineering and composition. Student researchers are also very welcome to apply to this event by submitting a 300 words abstract by 31 March.
Registrations for participants are currently open and will close on 1 July. Selected papers will be notified to participants by 15 April.
