IMZ International Music + Media Center, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of the performing arts through audio-visual media, and AEC have signed a memorandum of understanding on the occasion of an upcoming IMZ Academy to increase the collaboration between both organisations. This year's IMZ Academy entitled “The complete performer of the future – embracing media skills in music education” specifically targets Management staff of Higher Music Education Institutions (MEIs), Teaching staff of HMEIs and Alumni. It will take place on 29 & 30 October 2019 at the Music and Arts University (MUK) of the City of Vienna.
This event tackles one of the most crucial topics facing music education today: what should the shape and content of tertiary music education be in context of the digital world and what kind of skill and mindset does the classical musician of the future need beyond instrumental excellence? This IMZ Academy establishes the importance of media skills for the next generation of musicians and addresses the question how to prepare students effectively for the opportunities + challenges of the digital realm.
