We are delighted to share with you the invitation for this Inspiration Day – a space to pause, reflect, and rethink how we collaborate artistically with the Global South.
This is a joint initiative of the three conservatoires of AP University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Erasmus Brussels University of Applied Sciences and Arts, and HOGENT.
This event will take place on Monday, 27 April 2026 (9:15-17:00) at the KASK & Conservatorium, Ghent.
It will focus on exploring new and existing forms of artistic collaboration with institutions in the Global South. The day is conceived as an open learning space: a place to share concrete practices, question assumptions, and collectively reflect on possibilities, doubts, and tensions.
Through practice-based cases, exchange moments and co-creation sessions, we aim to broaden perspectives, deepen understanding, and strengthen international artistic networks. Throughout the day, we explicitly acknowledge this topic’s complexity, uncertainty and ambiguity.

- 9:15 Welcome & coffee
- 9:30 Practice-based case presentations
A series of short (15 min) and sharp case presentations, drawn from a wide range of artistic disciplines and collaborative practices. These cases are intentionally not framed as success stories, but as learning objects. Alongside promising trajectories, we also include projects that were challenged, rejected or did not unfold as expected.
- 12:30 Interactive lunch
Participants join round tables designed to stimulate conversation from a personal position and intuition rather than from expertise.
- 13:30 Keynote speaker: Milica Ilic
Rather than a traditional policy-oriented keynote, a reflective or critical voice will address tensions between artistic practice and “development logics” in transnational projects.
- 14:00 Co-creation sessions
Participants will collectively explore underlying principles, alternative criteria and imaginaries for collaboration in the future.
- 15:15 Reception & networking
We particularly welcome teachers, researchers, artistic coordinators, managers and international officers involved in, or curious about, artistic collaboration with institutions in the Global South.
