This academy, created by the Orchestre de chambre de Paris in 2021, is intended for young female composers: it aims to support their compositional work for orchestra and foster their career development and their entry into a higher conservatoire cycle.

Promoting parity in the world of classical music is a strong commitment of the Orchestre de chambre de Paris. Today, women are still a very small minority of composers. To overcome this problem, the Orchestre de chambre de Paris has joined forces with Thomas Lacôte and Clara Olivares to set up an academy dedicated to young women musicians who do not yet dare to take the step of composing. This multi-year academy is an incubator for young women creators and an opportunity to learn about writing for orchestra.

During the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 seasons, a series of workshops will be organised (composition, encounters by orchestral section and with full orchestra) focusing on the commissioning of work by the Orchestre de chambre de Paris, to be premiered by the orchestra as part of its 2024/2025 season. Meetings will be organised to familiarise the academy’s members with the general functioning of an orchestra. Composer Yves Chauris will supervise the composition process. The academy will run from October 2023 to June 2025 at the Philharmonie de Paris. Participants will be invited to attend rehearsals and concerts given by the Orchestre de chambre de Paris, notably at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the Philharmonie de Paris.

Applications are to be submitted before 17 September 2023.
