MusiQuE – Music Quality Enhancement, the Foundation for Quality Enhancement and Accreditation in Higher Music Education has been very active in the last months.

MusiQuE is currently coordinating and/or preparing several quality enhancement and accreditation procedures in Estonia, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland and Thailand. These procedures include:

  • A review of 12 programmes at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Tallinn (site-visit in November 2017)
  • An accreditation of 3 programmes at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (site-visit in December 2017)
  • An institutional quality enhancement review of the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid (site-visit in March 2018)
  • 4 visits of ‘critical friends’ and a quality enhancement review at the Malmö Academy of Music (site-visit in October 2018)
  • Reviews of several programmes at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (site-visits in May 2018)
  • A review of 7 programmes at the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana, Lugano, Switzerland (site-visit in October 2018)
  • A programme accreditation procedure at the College of Music, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand (site-visit in November 2018)
  • A review of 2 programmes at ESMUC, Barcelona, Spain (November 2018) in cooperation with the regional accreditation agency AQU Catalunya.
Negotiations for the organisation of other reviews are ongoing with several institutions in various countries including Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, Czech Republic, Singapore and Kazakhstan.

  • MusiQuE welcomes a student member on its Board. More information is available here.
  • MusiQuE’s ‘critical friend approach’ was presented at the Winter Seminar organised jointly by the European Consortium for Accreditation (ECA) and the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO). More information is available here.
  • MusiQuE was presented at the 4th Global Conference of the European Alliance for Subject-Specific and Professional Accreditation and Quality Assurance (EASPA). The presentation can be found here.
  • MusiQuE produced its third Trend Analysis based on the reports of completed review and accreditation procedures. It is available for download here.
  • MusiQuE has recently completed several review and accreditation procedures in The Netherlands, Austria, Kazakhstan and Thailand. The reports of these procedures are available for download here.
