The Creative Europe Cooperation Project Europa InCanto has been granted by the European Union for a two years journey towards the creation a new audience for opera by educating new generations towards a better understanding and appreciation of performing arts, with a particular focus on opera. Through the creation of a network of theatres and European cultural centres, and a close collaboration with the educational sector (particularly schools), the project aims at engaging children and their families with the Opera.
The project is coordinated by Europa InCanto, Italy, in cooperation with
- Theatre of Leipzig, Germany
- Orquesta Reino de Aragon, Spain
- Theatre of Split, Croatia
- Gjenerata e Re (New Generation), Albania
- Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen (AEC), Belgium
The AEC is responsible of the Working Package about Communication and Dissemination and its contributing with its expertise also in steering the artistic actions of the project.
The project has started with a virtual Kick Off Meeting on 22 October and a first expert virtual working group meeting on 26 October, which has been followed by the publication of a Call for Auditions for the selection of solo singers who will take part in the project.
The first live meeting and teachers’ workshop will take place on 16-18 January 2019 at Teatro La Pergola in Florence, where the first performance of Turandot will take place on 6 May.
