From 5 to 15 September, 2018, in Leuven, Belgium

In the summer school ‘Music, Language, and Community: Masterclasses in Innovative Music Education’, innovative music education projects will be created and run with people of diverse cultural backgrounds. How can music education contribute to community work? What are the opportunities and limitations of language in contemporary music education? Together with field experts and fellow future (music) educators, students will experience eleven exciting days dealing with these challenging issues. Bachelor and Master students in music participate in masterclasses, workshops, group discussions, and inspiring musical activities. They will work on several locations in and around Leuven, and enjoy the good life Leuven and Belgium have to offer.

Teaching staff will include: Thomas De Baets (Leuven), Adri de Vugt (The Hague), Anna Houmann (Malmö), Eva Saether (Malmö) and Yvonne Wasserloos (Rostock).

The organisation is done by LUCA School of Arts, in cooperation with Rostock University of Music & Drama, Royal Conservatoire The Hague and Malmö Academy of Music.
