The fifth edition of the METRIC Intensive Programme (IP) took place in Leipzig, Germany on 15-19 February.
The METRIC IP 2023 was hosted by the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” and consisted of five full days of workshops and masterclasses on improvisation.
The IP gathered 31 students and 21 teachers (including four observers from external institutions) from different improvisation backgrounds, who worked and performed together.
The workshops included: “Free improvisation”, “Historically Inspired Improvisation”, “Paradigms of improvisation with machines“, “Expressing harmony with monodic instruments”, “Voice Games” and many more.
Throughout the first 3 days, the students were divided into groups and assigned a specific set of workshops to follow while in the last 2 days, they were free to choose the workshops that were most fitting to their interests.
Warm Congratulations to the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” for the successful organisation of the Intensive Programme. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to all the teachers and students that travelled from near and far to attend the event and contributed to making it a unique experience for everyone.
We are looking forward to seeing again the METRIC network at the next Intensive Programme hosted by the AP: Royal Conservatory Antwerp in February 2024!
