MusiQuE actively participated in the AEC Congress in The Hague by organising a 2-day pre-congress workshop and two sessions during the event.

Peer Reviewers Training Workshop:

From 8 to 9 November 2023, MusiQuE welcomed a diverse group of 37 participants from 18 countries to its Peer Reviewers Training Workshop. The hybrid format, combining an online session on October 12 and in-person training at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, provided an immersive experience for institutional representatives interested in quality assurance matters as well as for potential MusiQuE Peer Reviewers.

The comprehensive agenda covered a wide range of topics, including an introduction to MusiQuE procedures, simulated Review Team meetings, and role-playing both as a Peer Reviewer and representative of a reviewed institution. The engaging sessions fostered collaboration, and the exchange of insights, and enhanced the skills of participants from various sectors of higher music education.

MusiQuE would like to thank all the participants for their valuable contributions and active participation!

MusiQuE sessions during the AEC Congress

MusiQuE actively participated in the AEC Congress with two insightful sessions on 10 November at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. These sessions delved into crucial aspects of quality assurance and allowed the participants to engage in meaningful discussions, and connect with professionals from the global music education community.

The first session “Bringing internationalisation and quality culture together explored the intersection of international perspectives and quality culture. The session delved into case studies from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and the International Benchmarking Group (IBG), and MusiQuE representatives reflected on the agency’s international character and presented the revised Standards for Institutional Review. The speakers included experts from around the world: Martin Prchal, Janneke Ravenhorst, Linda Merrick, Peter Tornquist, Joe Bowman, Jacques Moreau, Finn Schumacker, and Orla McDonagh.

During the second session “Building a strong internal quality culture by inviting and collecting student feedback“, MusiQuE facilitated a vibrant discussion on involving students in internal quality matters. EPASA representatives (Miranda Harmer and Natalie Roe) highlighted the benefits and challenges of student involvement, while MusiQuE (Jacques Moreau) shared new standards and findings from trend analysis. Finally, Janneke Ravenhorst (Head Quality Culture Office) and a student Sara de los Campos from The Royal Conservatoire The Hague shared their experience with student feedback mechanisms. After these contributions, participants had a chance to discuss and exchange their ideas in small groups.

MusiQuE expresses gratitude to all the speakers and participants and looks forward to future collaborations and contributions to the development of quality assurance in music education.
