A new international survey launched by Széchenyi István University and Eötvös Loránd University aims to shed light on the evolving realities of careers in higher music education.
The study examines working conditions, institutional expectations, and career pathways across different educational models worldwide — from conservatoires to university-based music departments. In particular, it explores how institutions assess and balance artistic performance, artistic research, teaching responsibilities, and academic publication.
By gathering perspectives from across the global music education community, the research seeks to better understand how artistic and academic contributions are recognised, and how these evaluations shape professional development within the sector.
The project team invites members of the international higher music education community to contribute their insights by completing the questionnaire. Broad participation will be essential in ensuring a balanced and meaningful comparative analysis.
