Dear AEC Pop & Jazz Community,
In the capacity of the new Chairperson, on behalf of the AEC Pop and Jazz Platform (PJP) Preparatory Working Group I wish you a very good start to the new academic year! Along with the re-organising of the Working Group, we have decided to communicate with you more regularly. This news item hopefully starts a new phase of active engagement between the working group, the PJP community, and the host institutions of the annual PJP Meetings.
As you know, the next PJP Meeting will take place in Odense, Denmark on 8–11 February 2024. The Syddansk Musikkonservatorium (SDMK) – Danish National Academy of Music looks forward to welcoming you to the “capital” of the Danish island of Funen. The venue for the Meeting is situated in the heart of Odense next to the historic quarter where the world-famous fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen was born.
Following the initiative of the host institution, we have decided to implement the 2024 edition of the PJP Meeting in a new, more practical manner by including participatory, hands-on workshops in the programming. At the same time, we acknowledge the importance of “staple” elements of the Meetings such as keynote speeches, contributions from the community in the form of Open Floor presentations, and of course, various opportunities for networking.
To tap into the talent of the PJP community, we are launching two calls for contributions:
Deadline for sending the proposals is 20 October. All selections for both the Workshops and the Open Floor sessions will be communicated by 7 November 2023.
We are very much looking forward to seeing you all in Odense next February! And if possible, please bring students with you!
