OOO2 dives into the heart of the project: following the performances in Rome and Porto in the Autumn of 2024, the OOO2 team headed north to perform in Germany and Norway at the beginning of 2025.
Curious about what happened in Rome? Watch “the Making Of” video of Don Giovanni, featuring a special interview with Maestro Michelangelo Galeati, OOO2 Project Manager, along with breathtaking footage from Rome.
In January 2025 OOO2 travelled to the little German town of Monheim am Reihn for a truly special milestone. Since August 2024, the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra has been in residence there as part of the Monheimer Kulturwerke, creating a unique opportunity for collaboration. Thanks to this partnership, the Ukrainian project partner, Nova Opera, was able to present a performance within the OOO2 framework.
In Monheim am Rhein, singers from the OOO2 project partners and the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra performed a concert for the pupils of the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium: most of them enthusiastically attended their very first (and hopefully not last) opera performance on 22nd January…but that was not all!
After the live performance, the talented young singers from the project partners and the professional musicians from the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra shooted a “Filmopera” of Le Nozze di Figaro in the premises of the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium with a modern mise en scène reminding Japanese manga on the theme of sexual harassment.
The Filmopera has been recorded through the lens of AEC’s precious video maker Daniel Sierra, with the help of Wallmuse, and under the direction of Adriana Hernandez Flores. The performance in Monheim am Rhein marked the end of the “Mozart cycle” of OOO2.
On 19th February, OOO2 went live with Puccini’s La Boheme at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, The Academy of Opera (Norway)
KHiO’s revisitation was a bold and modern take on this opera masterpiece. Students from OOO2 partner schools joined the Oslo Symfoniorkester, conducted by Michelangelo Galeati. Stage director Till Ernecke reimagined the story in today’s world of social media pressure, and Mimì’s illness was symbolised in a powerful way by KHiO dance students, portraying the parasites affecting her. Their performance was intense and visually striking, adding another layer to the story.

Before the show even started, KHiO design students created an immersive space where visitors could interact with live performances, drawing them into the story. This creative setup made the evening even more special.

From the set and costumes to the music and dance, every detail of this La Bohème was a fresh and exciting experience, bringing the ideas of OOO2 to life.

OOO2 partners are now getting ready for the final performance that will take place in Salzburg on 8th March with Mozareum’s reinterpretation of the fourth act of La Bohème following installations inspired from the second and third act of the opera that the audience will be able to experience by going through immersive rooms before the performance.
The role of the AEC in the OOO2 performances has been quite paramount in the objective of reaching new audiences for opera in social media. Thanks to the Community Manager Zofia Lalak (Poland) and the Opera Influencer Valentina Volpe Andreazza (Italy), OOO2’s posts on social media reached 45.000 views in the last project month alone. We are really looking forward to the last act of this fantastic journey in Salzburg!
