The General Assembly (GA) will take place on the last day of the Annual Congress in Turin (9 November). During the GA, AEC active members will need to elect candidates for the following posts:
- AEC President (the current member – Norway – eligible to stand for re-election)
- AEC Secretary General (the current member – Netherlands – eligible to stand for re-election)
- One Vice-President (current member – Ireland – eligible to stand for re-election)
- Six Council members (two current members – Finland and France – not eligible to stand for re-election, will have completed second term; three current members – Poland and Italy – eligible to stand for re-election; one current member – Germany – has chosen not to stand for re-election; and one seat remained vacant since 2018)
As you may know, every year, some Council members come to the end of either their first or second term. When it is the second, they have to be replaced and at least one new candidate must be found. There is no reason why alternative candidates should not put themselves forward for considerations, even when Council members are only at the end of a first term and standing for a second. Having elections on nine positions this November, AEC is very much looking forward to receiving suggestions and nominations.
Having a good number of committed candidates for these posts will strengthen the results of the election. As a member of the Council or of the Executive Committee, you will have the chance to represent the entire AEC membership and to contribute to AEC’s work, strategy and activities.
If you think about nominating a colleague, or if you would like to propose yourself as candidate, please keep an eye out for the next AEC mailing. We will share the official documents on the criteria and processes in a few weeks, so that you can send in your application by 30 September 2019
