The partners of the Creative Europe co-funded project Opera InCanto met in Florence from 6 to 8 May to discuss the transferability of the well-established audience development strategy developed by the project leader in Italy to the various project countries. Main challenges, production requirements, partners’ needs, and a detailed to-do list have been defined in order to prepare the project for its second (international) phase.

To better understand the Opera InCanto pedagogical approach, partners had the possibility to attend the children’s workshop in Florence in April and the première of Turandot by Giacomo Puccini at Teatro La Pergola in Florence on 7 May. The performance showed the final result of the pedagogical journey of 1200 Italian children and 34 young music professionals (orchestra musicians and singers) directed by Germano Neri. To get into the Opera InCanto atmosphere, we advise you to watch the video of the evening available at the bottom of the homepage of the Opera InCanto website.

During the second year of the project, the project leader will work with the partners to adapt and implement its creative approach to audience development with elementary school teachers and children in Croatia, Spain and Germany. Performances of the Opera InCanto Turandot will take place in the above-mentioned countries in 2020.

The project will be presented at the AEC Annual Meeting for International Relations Coordinators 2019 (Prague 19-22 September) and at the AEC Annual Congress and General Assembly 2019 (Turin, 7-9 November).
