The AEC warmly invites you to join the AEC Annual Congress and General Assembly 2025, hosted by the University Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria, from 6–8 November 2025.
The AEC Congress is the largest annual gathering of higher music education institutions in Europe and beyond, bringing together leaders, teachers, staff, and students to exchange ideas, shape the future of higher music education, and strengthen the international community of conservatoires.

This year’s programme will include inspiring keynote sessions, panel discussions, networking opportunities, and interactive activities that address the challenges and opportunities facing higher music education today.
Spotlight on Wednesday Pre-Congress Workshops
In addition to the main programme, participants are invited to take part in two Pre-Congress Workshops on Wednesday, 5 November 2025. Please note that both workshops require separate registration.
MusiQuE Peer Reviewers Training (Separate registration & fee required)
Organised by MusiQuE – Music Quality Enhancement, this three-day workshop provides training and professional development about quality enhancement and accreditation.
Target group: staff and students of higher music education institutions, representatives of music schools, and professionals from the wider music sector – experienced or not – who:
a) are interested in becoming Peer Reviewers for MusiQuE in the future
b) are motivated to reflect on their experience and practice as Peer Reviewers or
c) have a general interest in quality assurance and accreditation in conservatoires.
The training includes:
- Thursday, 16 October 2025 (10:00–13:00 CEST): Online session via Zoom
- Wednesday, 5 November (13:30–18:00 CET) & Thursday, 6 November (09:30–13:30 CET): In-person sessions at the University Mozarteum, Salzburg
Participants will be guided through all phases of the review process – from analysing Self-Evaluation Reports to preparing site visits and drafting final reports – using interactive methods such as role play, group work, and World Café discussions.

DEI – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Higher Music Education: An Invitation for Action (Separate registration required)
Facilitated by members of the AEC Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Panel of Experts, this workshop will provide an interactive forum for exploring how higher music education institutions can foster more equitable and inclusive environments.
Facilitators:

- Enric Aragonès Jové (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya, Barcelona)
- Alfonso Guerra (AEC Office, Brussels)
Targeted at staff and students of the hosting institution and AEC Congress participants (max. 50 seats), the workshop will include group activities, presentations, world café discussions, and digital interactions.
Drawing on AEC’s 2023 DEI Resource Package: An Invitation for Action, the workshop will encourage reflection and dialogue on institutional change, addressing resistance to DEI initiatives, and supporting underrepresented communities in music education.
