From 30th March to 1st April, the Royal Danish Academy of Music (RDAM) will host EPARM: AEC’s international conference on artistic research in music. The 10th EPARM conference takes place under the title Upbeat: Futures of Artistic Research in Music and, while presentations relating to any aspect of artistic research in music are welcomed, the peer review panel will prioritise presentations that give some consideration to one or more of the following topics:

  • How we can better prepare emerging artists to conduct AR;
  • The place of AR in the curricula of Higher Music Education;
  • The future impact of technology and digitalisation on AR;
  • How we can learn from artistic researchers in other disciplines;
  • How AR can create productive critical encounters that drive change.

Proposals can be sent to present and/or perform in two different formats:

Parallel Session: 20 minutes presentation (including any performance or examples) followed by 10 minutes of facilitated audience discussion. Proposals should address a clear question or questions that are rooted in practice.

L8Nite Performances: 20 minutes performance followed by 10 minutes facilitated audience discussion. Proposals for L8Nite Performances should clearly address the relationship between the proposed performance and the artistic research of which it is an outcome.

Complete submissions have to be sent to Beatriz Laborda at beatrizlaborda@aec-music.eu using the compulsory templates available on the call’s webpage.

The deadline for submissions is 1st January 2023.

Online registration for the event (compulsory to attend the conference) will open at the beginning of February on the event’s webpage.

Looking forward to seeing you in Copenhagen!
