The first two sessions of the ICON seminars proposed by the AEC as part of the ARTEMIS project in collaboration with the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, took place last weekend in the Hague (The Netherlands).
18 teachers from 13 Higher Music Education Institutions and 11 European countries participated in the two 3-hour sessions, following course leader Professor Gerda van Zelm and Renee Jonker, on an exploration of topics like the power of constructive feedback, as devised by dancer and choreographer Liz Lerman in her Critical Response Process method.
The next sessions will take place mostly online, on issues like power relations, social safety, inter-vision, diversity and inclusion, involving renowned experts such as Susan Williams, Yvonne Smeets and Gretchen Amussen.
The second series of seminars will be proposed during the next academic year, giving the opportunity to even more teachers at any stage of their career to acquire stimulating learning experiences and increase their knowledge and skills in educating and coaching conservatoire students.
