Jazz-hitz is a jazz music research journal promoted by the Jazz Department of Musikene- School of Music of the Basque Country, that aims to publish scientific works related to that music style understood from a very wide perspective: from studies about its history or analysis of different styles and individual interpreters that connects it to other kinds of music (classical, popular…), other artistic expressions (cinema, photography, literature, figurative arts…), or the record industry and media, up to other aspects related to the social, political or cultural background, its teaching and didactics, as well as research in interpretive practice. This wide spectrum is thought to provide the journal with a diversity of themes and approaches that share jazz music as the main focal and common point, so the reader interested in this musical expression can find studies and research materials that enrich the view of it.
The journal is born with a vocation for continuity as an annual journal with the desire to be of interest for the international community, which is the reason why it opens its doors to collaborations from different countries and diverse languages, and it also intends to maintain the journal’s scientific nature specially from the criteria that certify the quality in the publishing process, in the contents of the journal’s research articles, and in its diffusion.
