For young pop and jazz musicians
The competition is open to musicians between the ages of 16-25. They can play whatever they choose within the pop or jazz genres. It can be their own music, a cover, or a jazz standard played in a surprising way. The competition is open to musicians of every instrument.
Candidates are asked to upload their one-minute music video to YouTube and build their own online audience by encouraging their tutors, friends, family, and fellow musicians to vote for them. The deadline for submitting a music video is 16 March 2018 at 12:00pm GMT+1.

Vote online for the best European Surprising Star! The audience will be able to vote from the 23 rd of March until the 16 th of April 2018. The voting system and real-time ranking can be found on our website.

Surprising Stars is part of Give Music a Future, co-funded by Creative Europe of the European Union. Give Music a Future promotes young musicians by enabling them to perform before diverse audiences in Europe. It aims to turn youth music competitions into interactive art experiences.
