Teaching Artistic Research in Cross- and Transdisciplinary Settings – Webinar

You are warmly welcome to register for the next WE ARE Webinar which will be held on 13th January 2026 from 15:00 to 17:00 CET.

The theme of the upcoming webinar is “Teaching Artistic Research in Cross- and Transdisciplinary Settings“, and it will be led by Gilvano Dalagna and Jorge Salgado Correia (University of Aveiro / INET-md).

This seminar seeks to investigate epistemological perspectives and methodological strategies that underpin artistic research within cross- and transdisciplinary contexts. Recognising the increasing relevance of artistic research as both an academic and artistic practice, the session will critically address how knowledge is created, articulated, and validated when disciplinary boundaries are deliberately challenged or transcended.

The webinar will provide a series of case studies and practical resources, offering participants concrete examples of artistic research projects in higher education. These cases will demonstrate challenges related to assessment, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the balancing of artistic and academic values.

The WE ARE Webinars

The previous webinar explored the question of How to support teaching staff members to supervise AR projects, in particular, people with a background in musicology and performance?, together with Stephen Broad, Director of Research and Engagement at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, visiting professor at McGill University (Montreal, Canada), and long-standing Chair of the AEC EPARM Working Group.

The session offered concrete resources, peer exchange, and practical reflection on the pedagogy and practice of Artistic Research supervision.

We look forward to seeing many of you there and to kicking off the new year together by diving into the next exciting topic!
