'Opera Europa', a non-profit association which consist of almost 200 opera houses and festivals all across Europe, is the driving force behind this project. ‘The association hosts thematic conferences at least twice a year. ‘Opera Europa’ plays a similar role in the field of Opera as AEC is in the field of higher music education.
For some time now, Opera Europa has been very successful in running an online platform which offers high-quality video streaming of opera productions from their members.
So, it seemed it would only be a natural step to join forces in order to achieve our common goals in a joint effort.
The main objective of the cooperation between Opera Europe and AEC in the framework of the ‘OperaVision’ project is to set up a sub-platform, where masterclasses, vocal teaching tutorials and entire opera productions will be presented. In a first place, a small steering committee has been composed including of two AEC Council members; Lucia di Cecca and Ingeborg Radok-Žádná. Their task is to establish criteria for checking the technical, artistic and didactic quality in order to make sure that the videos displayed on the platform meet the necessary requirements. A selected number of AEC members have been recently asked to participate in this project pilot phase. We are keen to learn from its outcomes and are confident that we will be able to open the new platform to all our members later this year.
