The FAME’S European Orchestral Performing Institute emerged at the end of 2021 in the form of a three-year Creative Europe Cooperation project carried out by a partner consortium led by FAME’s.
FAME’S is a music production company specialised in orchestral music recordings which is based and active in Skopje / North Macedonia since 2008. From the beginning, a special feature of FAME’S has been its openness to a wide variety of different musical traditions, genres and styles. In the meantime, FAME’S has a studio that not only has exceptional acoustics, but is also technically state-of-the-art. Over the years, the FAME’S Studio Orchestra and its studio have thus become an ideal choice for numerous musical ventures worldwide.
The project addresses highly skilled young musicians in the field of orchestral music and focuses on giving the opportunity to participate in seminars and masterclasses, various orchestral practices, exploring new repertoires and performance styles. The aim of the project is introducing highly qualified emerging orchestral musicians, under the guidance of renowned and experienced conductors, composers and artists, to repertoire that play at best a marginal role if it’s not completely missing out in conventional orchestra musician study programmes.
Thanks to the seminars organised in the project, young musicians have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with a great diversity of various musical repertoires and activities in the fields of classical, contemporary and early music, music to film / video / media, gaming and crossover, traditional and popular music within the framework of intensive courses, public performances and professional orchestral recordings in the FAME’S studio. Besides AEC, partners in this project include the European Composer and Songwriter Alliance (ECSA), the Skopje Jazz Festival and the Music University of Bucharest.
The project can now look back to more than one year of activities including trainings, concerts, masterclasses, rehearsals, studio recording and lots of learning and music being performed. All in all, 286 applicants from 30 countries applied for the seminars which took place in the first project year. The feedback from the participants is positive to enthusiastic, which is not only due to the variety and quality of the programme, but also to the good and accommodation and restaurant facilities provided by FAME’S own guest house.
However, the project is not yet as known as it deserves despite its uniqueness and quality. The programme is fully funded by Creative Europe and is free of charge for the musicians, including board and lodging. Only the costs for travel to and from Skopje has to be covered by the participants themselves.
