Raluca Matei, Program Director for Doctorate in Occupational Health, Psychology, and Management, at Birkbeck, University of London, and Keith Philips, Postdoctoral Research Assistant at Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, want to learn more about the views and beliefs of classical musicians around values and principles in Western classical Music.
There is much talk that the attitudes and beliefs of young people who are active in the field of classical music have undergone huge changes in recent years. However, so far there is no reliable data available on the subject. The research team from England has set itself the goal to put this right, and therefore hopes for the participation of as many people as possible in a survey-based study aiming to explore this issue more in-depth.
For this purpose, classical musicians (professional musicians or music students at Higher Music Education Institutions) aged at least 18, from anywhere in the world, can help this study, completing an online survey (approx. 20 min), including questions on demographics aspects and views on the role of classical musician and creativity in western classical music.
The survey is completely anonymous and the data collected will be analysed and used for publication in a peer-reviewed journal and for presentations at relevant conferences.
More information regarding the details of the research project can be found on the online survey webpage.
