The “Luigi Canepa” Conservatory of Music in Sassari (Italy) presents the first edition of the international Ear Training workshop “Sentiamoci a Sassari”, a three-day event entirely devoted to listening pedagogy, musical perception, and innovative approaches to Ear Training currently developed across Europe.
The workshop builds on the long-established experience of Sentiamoci a Parma, created at the “Arrigo Boito” Conservatory of Parma by Prof. Fabio Ferrucci, which over the years has brought together more than 200 teachers from 26 countries, fostering a unique European network of Ear Training specialists. This path also led to the creation of the Second-Level Annual Master’s Programme “Specialisation in Music Theory, Rhythm and Aural Skills – Ear Training”, one of the very few programmes in Europe specifically dedicated to the advanced training of future Ear Training teachers.
Following recent editions hosted by the “V. Bellini” Conservatory of Catania, the Sassari workshop continues this tradition, offering students, teachers and professionals a valuable opportunity to explore the evolution of Ear Training as a central discipline in contemporary music education.
Lecturers from several European institutions will lead practical lessons, demonstrations, hands-on activities and interactive discussions, offering a multidisciplinary and international perspective. Participants will be actively involved through guided listening, analysis sessions, body-based activities, improvisation and collaborative work, experiencing first-hand a wide range of pedagogical strategies and methodologies.
The workshop aims to promote dialogue among different European traditions of Ear Training, encourage innovative teaching practices, and strengthen long-term collaboration within the international music education community.
Additional content will be published in the coming weeks, including the detailed daily schedule, session times, and practical information for visitors. The complete programme will be available by the end of January.
